A look back at Canada Day at the Cannery

Canada Day in Steveston was extra-special this year, as the City of Richmond combined their Canada 150 celebration with the already extremely popular annual Salmon Festival event. On July 1st, the Cannery once again opened its doors with free admission, and had over 5,000 guests visit the site! This year saw the added feature of a concert stage right in front of the site, along with food trucks, and refreshment vendors, enjoyed by the masses under the beautiful sunny skies.

Some of the highlights of the day can be seen in our photo gallery (above), from our new salmon can float in the Salmon Festival parade, and a very busy photo booth area where kids decorated their own photo props (salmon cutouts, of course) to pose with.

We would like to thank the many volunteers, staff and vendors who helped to make the day a fun and safe success, and of course to the many visitors who visited our site – we hope everyone enjoyed the day as much as we did!
