2017 Steveston Festival of Trees top votes announced!

On December 17th, at the final Cannery Farmers’ Market of 2017, the winners of the top votes for this year’s Steveston Festival of Trees were announced. Coming in a very wide lead were the Rivers’ Edge District Girl Guides, with their tree decorated with beautiful hand-made ornaments made out recycled wood pallets on which their famous Girl Guide cookies were delivered. In second place was the popular “Teacups and Teddies” tree by London Heritage Farm, decorated with real tea cups! And in third place was the kids’ favourite, “Frosty” by the Steveston Rotary Club. Thanks to all of the Steveston merchants and groups who participated – we raised many, many boxes full of food and over $600 in cash for the Richmond Food Bank, donated by all who came to vote for their favourite tree.
The festive trees remain on display at the Cannery until Dec. 31st; come see the trees over the holidays, and take advantage of the final few days of free admission at all Parks Canada sites for Canada150. Steveston Festival of Trees is presented in partnership with the Steveston Merchants Association.
