Fishermen Helping Kids with Cancer

Steveston’s  Fishermen Helping Kids with Cancer herring sale takes place this Saturday Dec. 3rd from 9am to 4pm, at the Steveston Harbour Authority’s Steveston Seafood Auction location (12740 Trites Road, Richmond). This annual event is organized entirely by a group of dedicated volunteers from the commercial fishing industry, and 100% of the proceeds are donated to help children with cancer. The nutritious, fresh and sustainable herring are sold right off the docks, at $15 for 20lbs. The money raised is then donated to the BC Children’s Hospital — the group has raised an impressive $350,000 over the past 5 years!

What to do with all that herring, once you’ve bought it? Look for recipes and instructions on how to clean and fillet the herring, right on the FHKWC website!
