Pink Salmon Festival 2015

Pacific Salmon Foundation 011

Hi, friends!

I’m back again with another fun festival post – this one about the Pink Salmon Festival that was held in Vanier/Hadden park last Sunday, August 30. The Pink Salmon Festival is a bi-annual event held by the Pacific Salmon Foundation to celebrate the pink salmon. Their motto: #thinkpink. For good reason– pink salmon is both delicious and cheap, and sustainable to boot!

The festival was lively and well attended by both Kits locals and others from around the GVA. With free face painting, live music, and a photo booth, the event was enjoyed by kids and adults alike. The biggest draw of the festival was definitely the by-donation pink salmon barbeque. It was so popular the line stretched down along the park, almost as far as the smell could reach. I had a chance to try some myself and boy!!! I can definitely vouch for how tender and fragrant the pink salmon turned out to be.

Despite the temperamental weather (not nearly as bad as the Saturday windstorm, thankfully), I had a great time at the festival! I spent the day chatting with folks about our lovely museum, hanging out with our fantastic volunteers, and noshing away on yummy salmon. If you’re jealous, I totally understand. Come hang out with me next time and I’ll save you a piece.
