Easter at the Cannery a Success

Last Saturday, April 3, more than 140 children came out to the Cannery’s first-ever Easter Scavenger Hunt. Throughout the day participants enjoyed hunting for plastic eggs and paper fish, making fish hats, fishing poles, and hanging salmon, and learning about the history of fishing on the West Coast. Prizes were handed out by staff, volunteers, and the Easter Salmon, who made her public debut at the event.

The Cannery also participated in the Steveston Merchants Association’s Easter Egg Hunt, handing out chocolate eggs to visiting children.

At the end of the day, it was Annika El-Araj, age 4, who took home the big prize – a 20″ chocolate bunny and a Family Membership to the Cannery. Congratulations Annika!

We’d like to give a big thanks to everyone who came out, as well as the volunteers who helped make the event such a success.
