Join us Friday nights from July 13 to August 31 for an evening of music. Every week will feature a different musical act, catering to a wide range of musical tastes, from blues, jazz, folk and more!

Music at the Cannery returns to Steveston on Friday July 13th with The Wayward Hearts, a six piece alt-country band from Vancouver, featuring accordion, violin and banjo. The Wayward Hearts are a 6 piece Alt. Country band from Vancouver B.C. featuring accordion, violin and banjo. The Wayward Hearts are Bradley Damsgaard on vocals, guitar and banjo, Emily Helsdon on violin and vocals, Jim Favaro on keyboards and accordion, Kirk Douglas on drums and Thorsten Abel on bass. Influences include Neil Young, Bob Dylan, The Band, 16 Horsepower, Shovels & Rope, Jack White, Junior Kimbrough, Gram Parsons and Ennio Morricone.

Helsdon and Favaro weave together violin and accordion, creating a distinctly classical texture to accompany Damsgaard’s haunting banjo and slide guitar. Mixed with singer Helsdon’s vocal harmonies and the punchy, bluesy rhythm section of Douglas and Abel, the band delivers full sounding folk, blues and country originals. While paying homage to traditional roots music, their modern arrangements bring a refreshing approach to the roots genre.

Tickets are $7 each and available at the door. Friday nights in July & August at 6:30 pm (doors open at 6pm). Concerts are held outdoors on the Cannery’s Tank Deck (indoors during inclement weather), so please dress warmly for our cool summer evenings.
