Saturday, April 28th is the National Day of Mourning. Annually the community of Steveston gathers at the Fishermen’s Memorial in Garry Point Park to recognize the fishermen who have lost their lives doing their jobs. As the Fishermen’s Memorial can be seen both on land and from water, it acts as a reminder of safety for today’s fishermen who pass by Garry Point Park as they move up and down river.

All are welcome to join the service this Sunday, April 28th at 10:30am, in Garry Point Park. For all those attending the service, a reception will be hosted by the Gulf of Georgia Cannery afterward.
