The Cannery’s Oral History Project

On March 25, 2017 the Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society held an event to celebrate the first year of our Oral History Project as well as the launch of the new online database and accompanying exhibit. Attendees of the event included the many people who have contributed their stories to the project in the past year, as well as the volunteers who have assisted with the project. Guests chatted over delicious refreshments by Salishan catering and musical entertainment by the Tunemakers.

Be sure to visit the Cannery to see the Oral History Exhibit which includes a computer station to access and listen to some of the stories which have been collected.

The database, which can also be accessed at www.cannerycollections.org, allows people to search the content and listen to the stories directly.

See image gallery for photos of the event by Jessie Hebert.

This project is funded by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program.
