Extension Granted to the Cohen Commission
The Cohen Commission of Inquiry has been given an extension. Their final report on the management of the Fraser River sockeye salmon, originally due May 2011, has been granted a completion date of June 30, 2012. The Cohen Commission is responsible for examining how the government has been managing the Fraser River sockeye, studying their population decline, where the stocks are now, and how to respond sustainably in the future.
There has been both community support and opposition for the extension. [Read full article.]
