Food Bank Needs Canned Salmon
Canned salmon: a staple in 1894; a necessity in 2013. The Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society has listed canned salmon, which is high in protein and low in sodium, as one of its most-needed items. It also helps that it’s full of healthy omega-3s and vitamin A and D. This Christmas, why not drop off a can or two at your local food bank?
Also, don’t forget that during the Cannery’s Festival of Trees, for every vote, a donation will be made to the Richmond Food Bank.
If canned salmon is already a staple in your household, try spicing things up with this Salmon Tostada with Corn and Black Bean Salsa recipe from Pedro Gonzalez, chef of Coast restaurant, featured in Vancouver 24 Hours.
