Fraser sockeye run “well below expectations”

The initial optimistic predictions for this year’s Fraser River sockeye salmon run are beginning to fade, the Vancouver Sun reported today. The returns of early Stuart sockeye are so low that the Pacific Salmon Commission has lowered its pre-season estimate by 48 per cent.
