GMO Salmon Egg Exports: How many is too many?

The CBC reports that scientists reviewing a risk assessment for AquaBounty, a P.E.I. facility that produces genetically-modified salmon eggs, expressed surprise that no export limit has been set by Environment Canada. AquaBounty, which has been operating as a research facility, is seeking FDA approval to sell the fish as food in the U.S. and permission from Environment Canada to export the eggs commercially. The eggs are exported to Panama, where they grow at twice the rate of regular salmon, and are seen as potentially lucrative for land-based fish farming. Find out more details here.
