Harbour Authority Assoc. of B.C. visits the Cannery

SHA Jan 23(small)

A large delegation of 75 members of the Harbour Authority Association of B.C. (HAABC) recently visited the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site on January 23, 2014.

During their visit, the representatives of Harbour Authorities from throughout the province, who had gathered in Richmond for the 17th Annual HAABC Conference, enjoyed tours of the Canning Line and Herring Reduction Plant led by our heritage interpreters and volunteer guides. At the closing dinner of the conference, a generous donation of $750 was raised and later presented to the Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society. The presentation is pictured above, with GOG Society Treasurer, Jim Kojima; Rebecca Clarke, GOG Society Executive Director; Bob Baziuk, General Manager of the Steveston Harbour Authority; and GOG Society Past Chair, Ralph Turner.
