Sustaining our fisheries for future generations

A Special to the Sun article by Joanne Sasvari “The Future of Fish”, looks into the sustainability of BC’s land-based tank fish farming. According to Ocean Wise, the Vancouver Aquarium’s sustainable seafood conservation program, “70 per cent of all ocean species are already fully exploited, over-exploited or in decline.” Educating consumers on how to choose sustainable seafoods is one way to help lessen the decline, but another is to develops methods to sustainably, and safely, farm fish.
