World Cup Village comes to Steveston June 12 to July 13!
Can you feel the temperature rising from FIFA World Cup fever? For the next month, Steveston will be transformed into “World Cup Village” and the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site will be one of 32 Host Pavilions. The Cannery will represent Ecuador, one of the countries competing for the 2014 FIFA World Cup from June 12 to July 13 in Brazil.
On Monday June 30, the Cannery will be host to Ecuador’s “World Cup Day” and will be decorated with the colours and sounds of Ecuador, featuring performances by local Ecuadorian musician Edgar Muenala, and a Soccer Skills demonstration in front of our site.
On June 29 & 30 (Sun & Mon), the Cannery will also be celebrating Steveston’s Ship to Shore event, debuting our new summer Fish Tales demonstratons led by a local fisherman (2pm to 4pm), and the launch of our Salmon Taste Challenge for participants in our 11am, 1pm and 3pm guided tours.
Visit us on June 30 between 10am to 5pm to help us celebrate Ships to Shore, the 2014 World Cup and the spirit of Ecuador!
