Music at the Cannery 2011

We are pleased to announce the lineup for Music at the Cannery 2011! The Cannery’s summer music series, Music at the Cannery, is sponsored by G&F Financial Group and presented in collaboration with The Beat Merchant and the Steveston Folk Guild. The series starts on June 24th and continues every Friday night until August 26. Shows start at 6:30, but please arrive early to ensure a seat. Admission by donation.

June 24 Sangre Morena performs music from Mexico, Latin America and Spain. They bring audiences to their feet with their sultry rhythms and the fiery sounds of the Flamenco Guitar.
July 1 Little Mountain Brass Band is a British-style ensemble founded in 1995.
July 8 Joe Charron writes songs of joy and sorrow, of hard work and hard play.
July 15 Gerry Layton presents the best of the 60ā€™s and 70ā€™s
July 22 Folk Thief bringshis brand of heartfelt, acoustic folk pop across Canada.
July 29 Steve Palmer‘s songs are about lifeā€™s simple pleasures with all the unhurried authority of a quiet and simple folk-singing road-survivor.
August 5 Hang-Ten Hangmen are marginally talented, fresh-faced young men…time-travelers from a previous era learning how to play surf music in the 21st Century.
August 12 Live Rust: From Heart of Gold to Rockin’ In The Free World, Roger Potter has brought his tribute to Canada’s own rock & roll icon Neil Young to thousands. His amazing solo acoustic tribute “An Evening with Neil Young” brings an authenticity that is unmatched.
August 19 Sarah Kennedy’s smooth, sultry vocals present a repertoire including straight-ahead swing, bossa nova, and ballads.
August 26 Willy Blizzard is a touring acoustic folk trio; singer/songwriters who play original alternative roots/folk/country music backed up by ā€œsuperb vocal harmoniesā€ (L.A. Beat, August 2010) with the warmth of guitar, banjo and stand-up bass
