There are lots of fun things for kids to do at the Cannery! What’s even better is that regular admission for kids 17 years and under are free (must be accompanied by an adult). Explore the massive historic building and the many hands-on, interactive exhibits.  Use a ‘peugh’ to sort salmon at the fish bins, try boat-spotting from the Harbour Viewing Deck, or be the captain of your own fishing boat in the Model Wheelhouse.  Visit the Cannery Kids’ Corner, and dress like a cannery worker, build a fishing boat, put on a puppet show or play fishy games.

Xplorer Activity Booklets

Are your children curious, bright, and active? Then they are perfect candidates to become Parks Canada Xplorers.

When you arrive at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery, ask for an Xplorers booklet filled with fun activities that will guide your discovery of this unique site.

After completing the activities kids are recognized as official Parks Canada Xplorers with a certificate and special collectible souvenir!

Xplorer booklets are included in the price of Youth admission. Suitable for kids ages 6-11 years.

Birthday Parties

If your child loves history, crafts, and games, the Gulf of Georgia Cannery could be the ideal place for their birthday party! At the Cannery we provide a unique backdrop for birthday celebrations with plenty of space to host snacks, presents, or other personalized party activities. Come play games, make crafts, and explore the Cannery on a private tour for your child’s special day.

Birthdays at the Cannery include:

• 2 hours of private party space rental in the Icehouse – a historic structure over the Fraser River
• Themed crafts and activities facilitated by museum staff
• Private, guided tour of our massive Cannery with interactive exhibits and film

Not Included:

• Loot bags, decorations
• Food, cake, ice cream, juice, etc.
• Plates, forks, cups, napkins
• Cooking or refrigeration facilities

Cost:
$100.00 for up to 12 children, complimentary admission for up to 5 adults (additional $6.60 per adult). For more than 12 children, an additional $5.00 per child to a maximum of 20.
