The Cannery will be raising coho salmon again this year. On January 9th, 2013, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans will deliver 55 coho salmon eggs. Over a three-month period, we will be providing the fish with cold, clean water, monitoring food intake, essentially rearing them from egg to alevin to fry. In the spring, once the fry can swim, the Cannery staff will release them into the Little Campbell river.

Come by the Gulf of Georgia Cannery over the next few months to watch the fish grow, progress and take shape. Take this opportunity to learn up-close about the salmon life cycle and be a witness to the salmon’s fascinating physiological changes over this crucial time period of their lives.
