Farm-to-Ship Sail aboard the schooner Adventuress

Sound Experience, a nonprofit organization, is introducing a Farm-to-Ship Family Sail aboard Puget Sound’s environmental tall ship,  the Adventuress, a 99 year-old historic schooner. The family-friendly trip, which is open to ages 8 and up, sails out of Friday Harbor for three days and two nights, August 17-19. A special feature of this overnight voyage will be a focus on the food we eat and where it comes from. The experience will be highlighted by a shore excursion to Bullocks Family Farm on Orcas Island complete with a meal of local, farm-fresh foods.

  • The cost: $395 for adults and $245 for youth (under 18).
  • Register online or call 360-379-0438.
  • Enter a draw by June 15th, to win passes for two. To enter, post a message to the Sound Experience Facebook Page and share your favourite local food.

The Adventuress is an American National Historic Landmark, and is owned and operated by nonprofit Sound Experience. Last year, the Adventuress took part in Ships to Shore here in Steveston – perhaps you had the opportunity to check it out? The Adventuress sails to educate, inspire and empower an inclusive community to make a difference for the future of our marine environment.

To learn more about fascinating ships, come to Steveston for this year’s Ships to Shore festival, June 29th to July 1st.
