It’s spring break–head to the Cannery!
Rain or shine, parents and kids will find lots to do at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site this Spring Break.Ā A host of activities will be taking place inside.Ā
There will be plenty of activities relating to our 2010 exhibit on Stevestonās Hong Wo General Store including a chance for kids to design their own poster promoting the storeās wares or write an imaginary letter home, based on the true experiences of a nine year old working on the Hong Wo farm.
In addition, children can make a Japanese-style hanging fish or their own fishing rod. Our popular guided tours through the fascinating history of the 116 year old Cannery will also run every hour on the hour.Ā There are plenty of hands-on exhibits for kids to enjoy as they hear tales about BCās fishing heritage.
Adults will enjoy the āArtists in the Parkā exhibit.Ā Two artist groups from Revelstoke journeyed to Glacier National Park or Pacific Rim National Park with the assistance of Parks Canada.Ā The resulting works in the exhibit interpret the parks through art.
