Salmonid Program in the Cannery – Coho release

green coho fry

Over the past three months, the Gulf of Georgia Cannery has been rearing coho salmon as a part of the Salmonids in the Classroom program. In early January, they came to us as eggs. Since then, the Cannery community has watched them grow from egg to alevin and from alevin to fry. On Tuesday, April 17th, we will be releasing our little coho in the stream at the Little Campbell Hatchery in Surrey.

Hundreds of people have visited these salmon since January. Many enjoyed learning about their life cycles, see them face to fish face, and have come back to check-in on their growth progress. Please come by the Cannery to visit them before they move on to their next stage of life in the wild.
